Wachovia will acquire two of Golden West's (NYSE: GDW) savings associations -- World Savings Bank FSB, of Oakland, and World Savings Bank FSB, of Houston -- and four nonbanking subsidiaries, which will allow Wachovia to engage in credit extension, trust company, investment advisory and securities brokerage activities.
