VietNamNet Bridge – A five-year project to improve higher education in Vietnam will begin on January 1, 2007 and last until the end of 2011 at a cost of $120 million.
Of the sum, $108 million will come from World Bank loans; the remaining $12 million will be Vietnamese government reciprocal capital and universities’ contributions.
The project will support the innovation of structures and system administrations in the higher education system, develop research capability, combine research with lecturing, improve quality and effects of research-training activities and professional and technical skills, promote cooperation among local universities as well as between local universities and foreign partners.
The Ministry of Education and Training, meanwhile, has asked for the government’s assistance for another project titled “Advanced university training programme”.
This project aims to create breakthroughs in the contents, methods and processes of university training through the application of teaching programmes using the English language as well as modern methods in management, examination and quality evaluation used by famous universities in the world.
