The Southeast Ventura County YMCA will honor Ventura County Sheriff Bob Brooks at its ninth annual YMCA Leadership Award Celebration on Saturday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

"Sheriff Bob Brooks is a champion for children and families for Ventura County and works closely with the Boy Scouts and YMCA, as well as other associations," said John Rutherford, president of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA, which serves the Conejo and Simi valleys and Moorpark. "We're honored that we can recognize him for his years of dedicated service to our community."

The Southeast Ventura County YMCA is the largest social-service organization in Ventura County and provides services to more than 24,000 individuals and families in the community.

Proceeds will be used to offset the cost of YMCA child-care services to low-income families in the community and to fund programs geared toward at-risk youth.
