STAFF at major banks are pocketing secret bonuses of £100 a week for encouraging customers to take out the biggest loans, a new report has claimed.

Confidential documents leaked from two major banks reveal how bosses tell their staff to sell big loans plus the lucrative insurance policies to earn bonus points.

Teresa Perchard, director of policy at Citizens Advice, said: "If staff know that they are going to earn more cash for the money they lend, it is likely the person's ability to repay a loan would not be their first consideration."
