KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- A total of 413 small and medium enterprise (SME) projects valued at RM2.94 million has been approved under the new matching grant schemes up to May this year, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Ng Lip Yong said Tuesday.

He said the schemes, introduced last year to assist the SMEs intensify their competitiveness, comprise grants for enhancing product packaging, design and labelling capability of SMEs; grants for development and promotion of halal products; and, grants for enhancing marketing skills for SMEs.

Ng said apart from the grant schemes, the government, through Small and Medium Industries Development Corporation, also provided financial assistance in the from of soft loans to the SMEs.

Meanwhile, K-Contec Penta executive director, Chuah Choon Bin, said the company helped organisations, particularly SMEs, in making the right decision in improving business process efficiency and effectiveness; visibility and security in production floor and warehouse management; profit margin; return on investment; and, marketing penetration, among others.

"K-ConTec Penta is able to offer price-competitive solutions to the market due to our lower implementation cost and better understanding of the local manufacturing environment," he said.
